What Happens During a Full House Rewire?
A step-by-step look at a full rewire: survey, planning, first fix, making good, second fix and testing.
Survey and planning
It starts with a look at the existing installation and a conversation about how you use the house. Socket, switch and light positions are agreed room by room.
First fix
Floorboards are lifted and refixed, walls are chased for cable drops, back boxes are fitted and new cables are run. The old circuits are disconnected.
Making good and second fix
Chases are filled, and plastering follows where included. Once surfaces are ready, accessories, light fittings and the consumer unit are connected.
Testing and handover
The installation is tested, circuits are labelled, and you're given the documentation and an explanation of the new system.
