What Happens to Walls and Floors During Rewiring?
How floorboards, chased walls and ceilings are handled during a rewire, and what making good involves.
Floors
Floorboards are lifted along cable routes and refixed afterwards. Laminate, engineered boards and tiles need more care and sometimes alternative routes.
Walls
Cable drops to sockets and switches are usually chased into the wall, then filled. Where a lot of chasing is needed, replastering may be the neater finish.
Making good
Every quotation should say what making good is included. Ask, so you know whether a plasterer and decorator need to follow on.
