Rewiring an Older Property
Practical considerations when rewiring period houses: lath and plaster, original features, routes and listed buildings.
Older houses reward patience. Routes take longer to plan, walls are less forgiving, and original features are worth protecting.
Walls and floors
Lath and plaster walls need careful cutting, and uneven floor voids may hide old pipework. We use existing voids and routes wherever we can to avoid disturbing original surfaces.
Listed buildings
If your home is listed, check with the local planning authority whether consent is needed for the works before anything starts.
